LA FILLE AU LEVER DU JOUR
Un long week-end conduit la jeune femme dans un petit hôtel du centre d’Avignon. Au matin, elle prend place dans la baignoire aux lignes douces et laisse durer la douche plus longtemps qu’à l’ordinaire.
Assise sous le filet d’eau, elle semble encore appartenir au silence de la nuit. Son corps se replie dans la blancheur de la salle de bains. La lumière du jour entre lentement dans la pièce.
Alain Rouschmeyer saisit cet instant sans effet théâtral. La posture, le cadrage et la lumière racontent un moment personnel. Le tableau explore cette frontière discrète entre le sommeil et le retour au monde.
THE GIRL AT DAYBREAK

A long weekend brings the young woman to a small hotel in the centre of Avignon. In the morning, she settles into the softly curved bathtub and lets her shower last longer than usual.
Sitting beneath the stream of water, she still seems to belong to the silence of the night. Her body folds into the whiteness of the bathroom as daylight slowly enters the room.
Alain Rouschmeyer captures the moment without theatrical effect. The posture, framing and light tell the story of a private moment. The painting explores the quiet boundary between sleep and the return to the outside world.
REGARDER DE PLUS PRÈS
A CLOSER LOOK
Le corps forme le centre de la composition. La courbe du dos, les bras rapprochés et les jambes repliées construisent une posture fermée. La jeune femme ne pose pas. Elle demeure absorbée par son geste.
Les lignes de la baignoire entourent la figure sans l’enfermer. Le blanc du décor accueille des nuances de gris, de bleu et de chair. Ces passages de couleur donnent au corps sa présence et installent la lumière du matin.
The body forms the centre of the composition. The curve of the back, the closely held arms and the folded legs create an inward posture. The young woman is not posing. She remains absorbed in her gesture.
The lines of the bathtub surround the figure without enclosing her. The white setting holds shades of grey, blue and flesh tones. These transitions give the body its presence and establish the morning light.
ENTRE LA NUIT ET LE JOUR
BETWEEN NIGHT AND DAY
Le tableau se situe dans un temps de transition. La nuit s’efface, mais la journée n’a pas encore commencé. La figure demeure dans cet intervalle, attentive à la chaleur de l’eau et à la lumière qui se précise.
Le format carré stabilise la scène. Il concentre le regard sur la relation entre le corps et l’espace. L’architecture de la salle de bains devient une construction sobre qui protège ce moment d’intimité.
The painting takes place during a moment of transition. The night is fading, but the day has not yet begun. The figure remains within this interval, attentive to the warmth of the water and the growing light.
The square format gives the scene its stability. It focuses the eye on the relationship between the body and the surrounding space. The architecture of the bathroom becomes a restrained structure that protects this private moment.

Avec son format de 100 × 100 cm, La fille au lever du jour affirme sa présence sur un mur dégagé. La toile peut être installée dans un salon, une chambre ou un espace de circulation assez large pour permettre un regard à distance.
Sa composition carrée convient à une présentation isolée. Les tons clairs de la salle de bains dialoguent avec les matières naturelles, les murs blancs, les gris doux et les bois sombres. Les bords peints permettent d’accrocher l’œuvre sans cadre.
With its 100 × 100 cm format, The Girl at Daybreak has a strong presence on an open wall. The painting can be displayed in a living room, bedroom or circulation space wide enough to allow it to be viewed from a distance.
Its square composition is suited to being displayed on its own. The light tones of the bathroom work with natural materials, white walls, soft greys and dark wood. The painted edges allow the artwork to be hung without a frame.

Le croquis réalisé en 2023 fixe la posture initiale. La plume suit la courbe du dos, la position des bras et le repli des jambes. Le trait reste direct. Il conserve la rapidité de l’observation.
Dans la toile, Alain Rouschmeyer développe cette première structure. Il construit l’espace, installe la lumière et donne davantage de densité au corps. Le dessin reste perceptible sous la peinture et maintient la relation entre le geste initial et l’œuvre achevée.
The sketch produced in 2023 records the initial posture. The pen follows the curve of the back, the position of the arms and the folded legs. The line remains direct and preserves the immediacy of observation.
In the painting, Alain Rouschmeyer develops this first structure. He constructs the space, establishes the light and gives greater density to the body. The drawing remains present beneath the paint, maintaining the connection between the initial gesture and the finished artwork.
