LA FILLE EN NUISETTE VERTE
Une jeune femme s’est assise quelques instants au bord de la baignoire. Elle porte une nuisette verte. Autour d’elle, la lumière glisse sur les carreaux blancs tandis qu’un rideau rayé ferme partiellement l’espace.
Elle ne semble pas poser. Son regard se dirige vers l’extérieur du tableau, comme si quelqu’un venait d’entrer dans la pièce. Ce contact soudain transforme un instant ordinaire en scène partagée avec le spectateur.
Alain Rouschmeyer construit la peinture autour de cette rencontre. La posture, le cadrage et l’organisation de la salle de bains relient la présence humaine à l’espace qui l’accueille.
THE GIRL IN THE GREEN NIGHTDRESS

A young woman sits for a few moments on the edge of the bathtub. She is wearing a green nightdress. Around her, light moves across the white tiles while a striped curtain partially closes off the space.
She does not appear to be posing. Her gaze is directed beyond the painting, as though someone had just entered the room. This sudden contact transforms an ordinary moment into a scene shared with the viewer.
Alain Rouschmeyer builds the painting around this encounter. The posture, framing and structure of the bathroom connect the human presence to the space that surrounds it.

La figure occupe le centre de la composition. Sa posture assise reste naturelle. Le mouvement du visage et la direction du regard introduisent une tension discrète dans ce moment de repos.
La nuisette verte se détache des carreaux blancs et des tonalités claires de la salle de bains. Sa couleur relie les différentes parties du corps et donne à la figure sa présence dans l’espace.
The figure occupies the centre of the composition. Her seated posture remains natural. The turn of her face and the direction of her gaze introduce a subtle tension into this moment of rest.
The green nightdress stands out against the white tiles and the pale tones of the bathroom. Its colour connects the different parts of the body and gives the figure its presence within the space.

La jeune femme ne demeure pas absorbée dans son geste. Elle regarde. Cette direction donnée aux yeux modifie la place du spectateur, qui ne reste plus entièrement extérieur à la scène.
Le tableau retient l’instant précis où une présence devient consciente d’une autre. Aucun événement spectaculaire ne se produit. Le récit naît de ce simple échange de regards.
The young woman is not absorbed in an activity. She looks outward. The direction of her eyes changes the viewer’s position, making it impossible to remain entirely outside the scene.
The painting captures the precise moment when one presence becomes aware of another. Nothing dramatic occurs. The narrative arises from this simple meeting of gazes.

Certains moments très simples deviennent soudain très présents lorsqu’un regard vous rencontre.
C’est cet instant suspendu que j’ai voulu retenir dans cette peinture.
