LA FILLE EN BLEU
Sous la lumière douce d’un après-midi d’été, une jeune femme marche dans un paysage ouvert. Elle nous tourne le dos et avance sans regarder derrière elle.
Sa robe bleue accompagne le mouvement de ses jambes. Elle se détache de la prairie claire, des verts du paysage et des reflets de l’eau qui occupent l’arrière-plan.
J’ai retenu cette marche solitaire. La posture reste simple. Elle exprime pourtant une direction, un choix et la relation silencieuse entre la figure et l’espace qu’elle traverse.
THE GIRL IN BLUE
“She walks without looking back. The blue of her dress follows each of her steps.”
Under the soft light of a summer afternoon, a young woman walks through an open landscape. Her back is turned towards us and she moves forward without looking behind her.
Her blue dress follows the movement of her legs. It stands out against the pale meadow, the greens of the landscape and the reflections on the water in the background.
I chose to capture this solitary walk. The posture remains simple. Yet it expresses a direction, a choice and the quiet relationship between the figure and the space she is crossing.
REGARDER DE PLUS PRÈS
A CLOSER LOOK
La silhouette occupe le centre de la composition. La robe bleue dessine le mouvement du corps et donne son rythme à la marche. Ses plis accompagnent les jambes et prolongent la direction suivie par la jeune femme.
Autour d’elle, le paysage se construit par plans successifs. La prairie claire forme le premier espace. Les verts plus profonds conduisent ensuite le regard vers l’eau et les reflets situés à l’arrière-plan.
The figure occupies the centre of the composition. The blue dress defines the movement of the body and gives rhythm to the walk. Its folds follow the legs and extend the direction taken by the young woman.
Around her, the landscape is built through successive planes. The pale meadow creates the first space. Deeper greens then lead the eye towards the water and the reflections in the background.
MARCHER SANS SE RETOURNER
WALKING WITHOUT LOOKING BACK
La jeune femme ne pose pas. Elle avance. Son visage reste invisible et laisse toute la place à sa posture. Le spectateur ne connaît ni son point de départ ni sa destination.
Cette absence d’explication ouvre le récit. Chacun peut reconnaître une promenade d’été, un départ ou un moment choisi pour marcher seul. La figure traverse le paysage tout en conservant son propre espace.
The young woman is not posing. She is moving forward. Her face remains unseen, leaving the posture to carry the scene. The viewer knows neither where she came from nor where she is going.
This absence of explanation opens the narrative. Each viewer may recognise a summer walk, a departure or a moment chosen for walking alone. The figure crosses the landscape while retaining her own space.
L’ŒUVRE EN SITUATION
Avec son format carré de 70 × 70 cm, La Fille en bleu trouve sa place dans un salon, une chambre, un bureau ou un espace de lecture.
La robe attire immédiatement le regard. Les verts du paysage et la clarté de la prairie donnent de la profondeur à l’ensemble. Présentée seule sur un mur clair, l’œuvre conserve toute la force de sa composition.

The dress immediately draws the eye. The greens of the landscape and the pale meadow give depth to the composition. Displayed alone on a pale wall, the artwork retains the full strength of its structure.

In a more intimate setting, The Girl in Blue invites a closer look at the movement of the dress, the direction of the walk and the different planes of the landscape. The square format creates a direct relationship with the figure and allows the eye to move around her.

FIRST GESTURE
Avant la peinture, un croquis au graphite réalisé en 2023 a fixé la posture. Le trait a d’abord saisi la silhouette vue de dos, le mouvement des jambes et la forme de la robe.
La toile reprend cette structure et développe l’environnement. La couleur introduit le bleu du vêtement, la profondeur des verts, la lumière de la prairie et les reflets de l’eau. Le passage du croquis au format carré donne davantage d’espace au paysage.
Before the painting, a graphite sketch created in 2023 captured the posture. The line first recorded the figure seen from behind, the movement of the legs and the shape of the dress.
The canvas retains this structure and develops the surrounding landscape. Colour introduces the blue of the dress, the depth of the greens, the light of the meadow and the reflections on the water. Moving from the sketch to the square format gives the landscape more space.
