Une jeune femme repose dans un espace presque entièrement envahi par le bleu. Son visage échappe au regard. Le corps replié, la main posée contre la jambe et les pieds nus suffisent à raconter sa présence.
J’ai cherché moins un portrait qu’un état intérieur. La posture laisse apparaître un moment de retrait, de fatigue ou d’apaisement. Chacun peut y reconnaître une émotion différente et construire sa propre histoire.
Les motifs des draps entourent la figure et contrastent avec les grandes surfaces bleues du vêtement. Le corps devient le point de silence de la composition.
Cette œuvre a reçu la médaille d’or 2025 du Prix International des Professionnels de l’Art.
THE GIRL IN THE BLUE SHEETS
A young woman rests in a space almost entirely filled with blue. Her face escapes the viewer’s gaze. Her folded body, the hand resting against her leg and her bare feet are enough to convey her presence.
I sought to portray an inner state rather than create a conventional portrait. Her posture suggests a moment of withdrawal, weariness or calm. Each viewer may recognize a different emotion and form their own story.
The patterns of the sheets surround the figure and contrast with the broad blue surfaces of her clothing. The body becomes the still point within the composition.
This work received the 2025 Gold Medal at the International Prize of Art Professionals.

Avant la toile, il y a eu ce croquis. Le trait a d’abord fixé la posture repliée, la présence des mains et des pieds, puis le réseau de motifs qui entoure la figure. La peinture reprend cette structure initiale.
L’encre noire laisse place aux différentes profondeurs du bleu. Le corps conserve son retrait, tandis que la couleur transforme l’espace et donne à la scène une autre densité.
Before the painting, there was this sketch. The lines first captured the folded posture, the presence of the hands and feet, and the network of patterns surrounding the figure.
The painting retains this original structure. Black ink gives way to different depths of blue. The body remains withdrawn, while colour transforms the space and gives the scene a new density.
