DOS NU
La fin de l’été approche. L’air se rafraîchit et l’eau du lac a perdu quelques degrés. Une femme s’appuie sur le muret de pierres avant de s’immerger pour sa nage quotidienne.
Les lunettes sont en place. Les cheveux sont relevés. Son bras gauche soutient le mouvement tandis que sa main droite cherche déjà le contact de l’eau.
J’ai retenu cet instant de préparation. La posture traduit à la fois la prudence, l’effort et la décision d’entrer dans le lac. Le dos nu devient le centre de la composition. Sa lumière contraste avec les verts profonds de l’eau et les gris de la pierre.
BARE BACK
“The body rests against the stone. The back reaches towards the water before immersion.”
The end of summer is approaching. The air is cooler and the lake has lost a few degrees. A woman leans against a stone wall before entering the water for her daily swim.
Her goggles are in place. Her hair is tied up. Her left arm supports her movement while her right hand is already reaching towards the water.
I chose to capture this moment of preparation. Her posture expresses caution, effort and the decision to enter the lake. The bare back becomes the centre of the composition. Its light contrasts with the deep greens of the water and the greys of the stone.

A CLOSER LOOK
Les lignes du dos, des épaules et des bras construisent la posture. Le maillot noir souligne les mouvements du corps et renforce sa présence au centre du format carré.
Les verts de l’eau se mêlent aux reflets du paysage. Sur la gauche, les pierres et quelques feuilles forment une limite. À droite, le lac ouvre la composition et conduit le regard vers la rive opposée.
The lines of the back, shoulders and arms construct the posture. The black swimsuit defines the body’s movement and strengthens its presence at the centre of the square format.
The greens of the water mingle with reflections from the landscape. On the left, stones and a few leaves form a boundary. On the right, the lake opens the composition and guides the eye towards the opposite shore.
LA POSTURE AVANT LE MOUVEMENT
THE POSTURE BEFORE MOVEMENT
La nage n’a pas encore commencé. Le corps cherche son équilibre entre le muret et l’eau. Cette transition donne à la scène sa tension.
La figure ne pose pas. Elle accomplit un geste ordinaire, observé dans sa durée. Sa posture suffit à raconter la température du lac, l’hésitation du premier contact et l’habitude d’une nageuse.
The swim has not yet begun. The body searches for balance between the stone wall and the water. This transition gives the scene its tension.
The figure is not posing. She is performing an ordinary gesture, observed over time. Her posture conveys the temperature of the lake, the hesitation of first contact and the habits of a swimmer.
L’ŒUVRE EN SITUATION
Avec son format carré de 70 × 70 cm, Dos Nu trouve sa place dans un salon, une chambre, un bureau ou un espace de lecture.
La présence du corps attire le regard. Les verts du lac donnent de la profondeur à l’ensemble. Présentée seule sur un mur clair, l’œuvre conserve toute la force de sa composition.

In a more intimate setting, Bare Back invites a closer look at the gesture, the texture of the stone and the reflections on the lake. The square format creates a direct relationship with the figure.

Avant la peinture, un croquis à la plume a fixé la posture. Le trait a d’abord saisi l’appui du bras, l’inclinaison du dos et le mouvement de la main vers l’eau.
La toile reprend cette structure et développe l’environnement. La couleur introduit la profondeur du lac, la matière minérale du muret et la lumière qui modèle le corps.
Before the painting, a pen sketch captured the posture. The line first recorded the supporting arm, the angle of the back and the movement of the hand towards the water.
The canvas retains this structure and develops the surrounding space. Colour introduces the depth of the lake, the mineral texture of the wall and the light modelling the body.
