His soft, floppy figure perched on the living room radiator, nose pressed against the window, while Inès, seated in the back of the car, watched her beloved companion until the first bend in the road.

With ON THE QUAY, I wanted to paint a moment of everyday life — ordinary, yet full of weight. A dockside scene like many others, yet here, frozen in posture and light. The shadow on the ground becomes as important as the figures themselves. Nothing seems to happen — and yet everything is there: bodies holding still, eyes looking away, the quiet presence of a dog. It’s a painting about suspension, anticipation — about unnamed expectation.
