BIRDS OF LAKE ANNECY
Camille Rouschmeyer
EN
Camille Rouschmeyer's impressionism depict the birds she has observed for many years along the shores of Lake Annecy and the Eau Morte river, which flows through the Réserve naturelle du Bout du Lac. In spring, she often has the joy of seeing juveniles venturing out to discover the world. For example, along the Sentier des Roselières in Saint-Jorioz, she once watched two small swans gliding among the water lilies.

Charmed by the symbiosis between the lake's birds and their environment, the artist also shows us a coot moving among the reeds, the courtship dance of a pair of great crested grebes, and other small scenes she observed at length, notably in Duingt, Doussard and the Bout du Lac. Camille Rouschmeyer's impressionism thus captures with attention and sensitivity both the colors and reflections of the water and the attitude and beauty of each of these birds.

Description of the work :
This small painting, titled COURTSHIP OF GREAT CRESTED GREBE, depicts the dance of a pair of grebes that the artist observed on Lake Annecy in March. The two birds circled each other, neck stretched out and feathers fanned out on top of the head.
That day, at the very beginning of spring, a swan accompanied by its reflection seemed to be dancing on Lake Annecy, one leg emerging from its feathers.

Balade sur l’Eau Morte
That day, in the Bout du Lac Nature Reserve, the Eau Morte stream was alive with the presence of four mallards and a female duck swimming along the reed-lined bank. The landscape and the birds, in perfect harmony, were illuminated by an autumn sun that made the golden reflections of the river and the iridescent necks of the ducks shimmer.
